In the Night Garden is an interpretation of a nursery rhyme picture book. It is about a magical place that exists between waking and sleeping in a child’s imagination. It is a place inhabited by different characters such as Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka who care for each other and have lots of fun together. Narrated by Sir Derek Jacobi.

Do you know the characters from In the Night Garden?

★ Igglepiggle! ★
Igglepiggle is physical and energetic – a well-loved teddy always jumping and bouncing around. He’s curious and adventurous, but also vulnerable and modest. Despite his energy he is often in need of reassurance and comfort, which he gets from his best friend Upsy Daisy and his red blanket.

★ Upsy Daisy! ★
Upsy Daisy is a happy and optimistic dolly. She loves nothing more than to dance through the garden and often convinces other character to join in. One of her favourite things is her bed, which has a mind of its own and can often be seen chasing her around the garden.

★ Makka Pakka! ★
Makka Pakka lives in a little cave at the edge of the garden and likes nothing more than collecting and washing little stones – he’ll often wash the faces of the other characters too. He travels around the garden pushing his Og-Pog vehicle, which carries his soap and sponge, his uff-uff dryer and his special trumpet.

★ The Tombliboos ★
There are three Tombliboos – Unn who is red and green, Ooo who is brown and pink and Eee who is pink and yellow. They live together in an extraordinary bush, where they enjoy stacking and sorting their special blocks, banging their drums and making tunes on their piano.

★ The Pontipines and The Wottingers ★
The Pontipines are a large family of 10 that live in a semi-detached house at the foot of a tree. There are 8 children, 4 of which are girls and four of which are boys and they are always dressed in red. Their next-door neighbours are the Wottingers, who also have 8 children and they are always dressed in blue.

★ The Haahoos ★
The Haahoos are five enormous pillowy creatures who roam about the garden at a leisurely pace that is entirey their own. They are sedate and gentle, but are so big they often stop the Ninky Nonk in its tracks – no small feat!

★ The Ninky Nonk and The Pinky Ponk ★
The Ninky Nonk and the Pinky Ponk are the only forms of transport for the characters in the garden, but they couldn’t be more different! The Ninky Nonk is a funny kind of train which careers through hedges and clambers up and down trees all over the garden. The Pinky Ponk is a kind of airship which glides gracefully in the air, providing wonderful aerial views of the garden for all those on board.

★ The Tittifers ★
The Tittifers are brightly coloured birds that sing as individuals throughout the programme, and then together form a beautiful harmony as a signal for bedtime.

Antrim Castle Gardens Christmas – Enchanted Winter Garden

Views:5700|Rating:4.67|View Time:4:10Minutes|Likes:14|Dislikes:1
Antrim Castle Gardens Christmas display is a great day/night out in November & December each year. The Antrim & Newtownabbey Council event has built up a great buzz in recent years and is very popular – so do get down early!

The official information includes the following: Bigger and better than ever before, come and see the Gardens transformed into an enchanted world.

Christmas is the favorite part of the year for almost all the people out there and this goes back for all the lights, the decorations, and the special treats which are only related to it – we should say that we are the same; its our favorite month of the year too!

One of the different places which we wanted to go visit and check was the Enchanted Winter Garden in County Antrim and which has been there for a couple of years, so we also wanted to see the kind of change that might be taking place this time.

This place is created for all the members of the family out there – kids and adults – and it is related to Antrim Castle Gardens ( This year’s magical Christmas highlight and experience is different with the 40m Ferris Wheel that will give all the visitors the chance to star gaze all over Antrim Town and beyond.

From the other different attractions for this place this year, there is the Christmas train which is for all those younger members of the family, the old fashioned carousel which the kids will fall in love with its colors and lights, the sparkling swings that twinkle and glitter in the gardens and give the little ones the happiness they came for while swinging through the lights, and there is also the Christmas boat that swings its passengers high and low among the trees and gives them all a thrilling whoosh through the winter garden.

In addition to those rides which the kids could enjoy, there are still other beautiful things that one could enjoy about the Enchanted Winter Garden in County Antrim, such as the lighting installation of this year which is even more dazzling and different than the last ones since there are thousands of sparkling bulbs and twinkling fairy lights that awash the trees and turrets in color, wonderland wood where visitors should stroll to the sugar drop stop and wander through the lollipop lane, the festive fayre which serves different yummy treats and which we got the chance to try the marshmallows on fire (S’mores), and the old Christmas Inn which will be serving different drinks in the heart of Clotworthy Courtyard and which might include hot chocolate, mulled wine and hot fruit punch in order to bring cheer to the young as well as the old.

In addition to all previous things mentioned about the things to be found inside the Enchanted Winter Garden in Antrim Castle and in order to keep the experience complete, there is live music that will be surrounding all those people strolling around the place, for local musicians who will be playing brass, silver, strings, and different other instruments. There is a schedule for this musical part, with a different act for every evening; so if you are planning to visit more than once then don’t worry because if you changed the day, you will not be walking the place listening to the same music.

Like any other Christmas place, the Antrim Castle Gardens for Christmas offer a place where people could have some offers for Christmas shopping and where they could buy some gifts. The Baubles & Bows is the gift shop in the Enchanted Christmas Garden that offers some beautiful things you should check if you are there.

Every country will have its special lights, gardens, and markets to celebrate Christmas and here in Northern Ireland, we did not only enjoy those beautiful decorations and lights in the Antrim Castle Gardens where the Enchanted Winter Garden is located, but we have also been to Belfast Christmas Market where we enjoyed the new 20 stalls which are added this year and also loved walking through the lights, seeing what the people have to offer there, and at the same time enjoying the hot drinks along with some treats and goodies which are offered in those markets as well. Since we were in Belfast, it was also good to go to Victoria Square in the centre of Belfast where we believe that it is considered the best place for Christmas shopping for all the shops it has and at the same time for being the place where one could find all the things that he/she is searching for ( you could also check our visit to Belfast Christmas Market last year and enjoy our experience there as well (

If you are near then you should go have some fun walking around the place and give your kids the cheer they want with riding all those things found out there – Merry Christmas 🎉

Some of the best locations around Ireland / Northern Ireland and further afield. A travel blog/vlog of the hidden treasures that are on our doorstep.

The most important party of the Savannah Christmas season ends with a bang! When affable host Jim Williams (Kevin Spacey) shoots a man to death. The party is over, the investigation begins.

Director Clint Eastwood weaves murder, mystery and voodoo into a sumptuous adaptation of the John Berendt bestseller based on true events. Spacey and John Cusack as a journalist drawn to Savannah’s decadence and eccentrics lead a nimble cast that includes Jack Thompson, Alison Eastwood and The Lady Chablis. For “one of the best American films of the year” (Boston Herald), rendezvous at Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

London Video Tour: The West End (Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street, Convent Garden, Soho)

Views:207693|Rating:4.84|View Time:6:55Minutes|Likes:1121|Dislikes:37
In this video tour, David Hill of New York Habitat ( explores London’s bustling West End district!

On the tour, we will stop by Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street, Convent Garden, Soho and more. All are part of London’s thriving West End district, the go-to place for entertainment, theater and shopping! West End stretches roughly from Charring Cross in the east to Hyde Park in the west, and from the banks of the River Thames in the south to Euston Road in the north.

Covent Garden

The tour starts at the Covent Garden market: a place that started as a fruits and vegetables garden, evolved into a famous fruit, vegetable and flower market, and is now a thriving shopping area. Covent Garden also houses London’s Royal Opera House, which has been part of Covent Garden since the mid 18th century. In Covent Garden you’ll often get to experience street theater performances, which you can enjoy from one of the many terraces in front of Covent Garden’s restaurants. One of these is Rules: London’s oldest restaurant! London’s oldest pub, the Lamb & Flag, is also located in Covent Garden.

Leicester Square

One of West End’s three famous squares, Leicester Square is home to many movie theaters. Leicester Square pays homage to the world of theater with a statue of Shakespeare, which you can find in the center of the square, and with the many street artists you’ll see all around. If you plan on seeing one of the West End musicals, you can often find discounted tickets at the TKTS booth located on Leicester Square.

Soho & Oxford Street

Next stop on the tour is London’s entertainment center: Soho. Soho, which has also become London’s gay scene center, lies at the heart of the West End, and is simply brimming with restaurants, pubs and shops.

North of Soho you’ll find Oxford Street, which is the busiest shopping street in Europe! With hundreds of shops ranging from Topshop to the Gap, Oxford Street is sure to please even the most fervent shopaholic.

After a busy day of shopping, you can relax and feel at home in your London vacation rental apartment ( NY Habitat London vacation rentals provide the perfect base to explore the city from! An example of one of our vacation rentals is this 2-bedroom rental in Covent Garden: The apartment has a classy modern feel, comes with a fully equipped kitchen and is just blocks away from the British Museum! For a longer stay, we have apartments to offer such as this studio apartment, also in Covent Garden: The studio is part of an 18th century house, and is located right in the center of Covent Garden, so you have excellent access to the Covent Garden Market and more! Check for our entire selection of apartments in London.

Piccadilly Circus & Trafalgar Square

Next on the tour is Piccadilly Circus, a busy square popular with tourists that boasts many neon billboards. Along Piccadilly, you’ll find cafes and shops such as the restaurant Richoux, the shopping arcade Burlington Arcade and the tailor shop Gieves & Hawkes. Along Jermyn Street, you’ll find ladies and gentleman clothing outfitters such as Hackett.

In West End, you’ll also come across cultural institutions such as the British Museum, which is one of the oldest and largest museums in the world. To the south, you’ll find another such cultural institution on Trafalgar Square: The National Gallery. Trafalgar Square itself is also well worth a visit, as it’s home to Nelson’s Column, the Admiralty Arch and great fountains. The square is also where many events are held, for example, it’s the unofficial venue for the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Seven Dials

Now you’ve seen the three great squares of the West End district, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square, we’ll end the tour at another great crossroads: Seven Dials. Seven Dials is a small road junction where seven streets meet, and it nicely illustrates the great attractions of the West End: theater, entertainment & shopping.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of London’s West End neighborhood! Don’t forget to check out our blog for more information about the area: Did we miss any of your favorite spots? Let us know in the comments below!
