London Video Tour: The West End (Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street, Convent Garden, Soho)

Views:207693|Rating:4.84|View Time:6:55Minutes|Likes:1121|Dislikes:37
In this video tour, David Hill of New York Habitat ( explores London’s bustling West End district!

On the tour, we will stop by Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street, Convent Garden, Soho and more. All are part of London’s thriving West End district, the go-to place for entertainment, theater and shopping! West End stretches roughly from Charring Cross in the east to Hyde Park in the west, and from the banks of the River Thames in the south to Euston Road in the north.

Covent Garden

The tour starts at the Covent Garden market: a place that started as a fruits and vegetables garden, evolved into a famous fruit, vegetable and flower market, and is now a thriving shopping area. Covent Garden also houses London’s Royal Opera House, which has been part of Covent Garden since the mid 18th century. In Covent Garden you’ll often get to experience street theater performances, which you can enjoy from one of the many terraces in front of Covent Garden’s restaurants. One of these is Rules: London’s oldest restaurant! London’s oldest pub, the Lamb & Flag, is also located in Covent Garden.

Leicester Square

One of West End’s three famous squares, Leicester Square is home to many movie theaters. Leicester Square pays homage to the world of theater with a statue of Shakespeare, which you can find in the center of the square, and with the many street artists you’ll see all around. If you plan on seeing one of the West End musicals, you can often find discounted tickets at the TKTS booth located on Leicester Square.

Soho & Oxford Street

Next stop on the tour is London’s entertainment center: Soho. Soho, which has also become London’s gay scene center, lies at the heart of the West End, and is simply brimming with restaurants, pubs and shops.

North of Soho you’ll find Oxford Street, which is the busiest shopping street in Europe! With hundreds of shops ranging from Topshop to the Gap, Oxford Street is sure to please even the most fervent shopaholic.

After a busy day of shopping, you can relax and feel at home in your London vacation rental apartment ( NY Habitat London vacation rentals provide the perfect base to explore the city from! An example of one of our vacation rentals is this 2-bedroom rental in Covent Garden: The apartment has a classy modern feel, comes with a fully equipped kitchen and is just blocks away from the British Museum! For a longer stay, we have apartments to offer such as this studio apartment, also in Covent Garden: The studio is part of an 18th century house, and is located right in the center of Covent Garden, so you have excellent access to the Covent Garden Market and more! Check for our entire selection of apartments in London.

Piccadilly Circus & Trafalgar Square

Next on the tour is Piccadilly Circus, a busy square popular with tourists that boasts many neon billboards. Along Piccadilly, you’ll find cafes and shops such as the restaurant Richoux, the shopping arcade Burlington Arcade and the tailor shop Gieves & Hawkes. Along Jermyn Street, you’ll find ladies and gentleman clothing outfitters such as Hackett.

In West End, you’ll also come across cultural institutions such as the British Museum, which is one of the oldest and largest museums in the world. To the south, you’ll find another such cultural institution on Trafalgar Square: The National Gallery. Trafalgar Square itself is also well worth a visit, as it’s home to Nelson’s Column, the Admiralty Arch and great fountains. The square is also where many events are held, for example, it’s the unofficial venue for the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Seven Dials

Now you’ve seen the three great squares of the West End district, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square, we’ll end the tour at another great crossroads: Seven Dials. Seven Dials is a small road junction where seven streets meet, and it nicely illustrates the great attractions of the West End: theater, entertainment & shopping.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of London’s West End neighborhood! Don’t forget to check out our blog for more information about the area: Did we miss any of your favorite spots? Let us know in the comments below!

JUNGLE ROOM TOUR

You guys asked and I answered!……..like half a year later. My room is my sanctuary, the place you go to escape the outside world, to read your favorite books, to burn incense and blast your favorite playlists. To cuddle up, to dance naked in front of the mirror, to write your heart out in a journal. Decorate it with your soul and your heart. Use this little tiny space that is entirely “yours” to fully express the essence of who you are. In the words of the Beach Boys, my room is “a world where I can go and tell my secrets to”.

*The majority of the things in my room were either given to me, found around the house, or bought from garage sales/thrift stores. Hardly anything other than the plants and books were bought full-priced. This room is very cheaply decorated, yet with an artistic and visual taste, that came from my creativity. You don’t have to spend a fortune on making something magical.

Take A Tour Of Prince Harry And Duchess Meghan’s Stunning Frogmore Cottage & Frogmore House History

Views:210653|Rating:4.09|View Time:27:40Minutes|Likes:1471|Dislikes:329
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will soon leave the bright lights of London for the relative quiet of Windsor, but that doesn’t mean they will need to give up the finer things in life to which they are both accustomed.

Indeed Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, will have access to some of the very best restaurants, hotels and schools the country has to offer when they relocate to Frogmore Cottage ahead of their baby’s arrival next spring.

The royal residence, once home to Queen Victoria’s manservant Abdul Karim, is situated in the private Home Park and looks out onto the stunning grounds of Frogmore House, which Harry and Meghan chose as the location for their formal engagement photoshoot.

Among their number are George and Amal Clooney, whose sprawling home is a 30-minute drive from Windsor, and Sir Elton John and David Furnish, who frequently host parties in the grounds of their Old Windsor estate.

Both couples were guests at Harry and Meghan’s nuptials in the royal town in May.

Once the Duchess welcomes her child, she will join the ranks of the area’s yummy mummy contingent, who enjoy mother and baby yoga lessons and catch up over coffee at Coworth Park – where Meghan watched Harry play polo in June.

Here, a closer look at how the royal couple might spend their time..

Frogmore Cottage affords the newlyweds more privacy than they have ever previously enjoyed, which is likely to have been the deciding factor in choosing their first family home.

Harry and Meghan will renovate the cottage ahead of moving in and are likely to make the most of the space by adding touches like a home gym – and a nursery.

The cottage is currently divided into five separate units where palace staff have been living.

Harry and Meghan hosted their private evening wedding party and shot their engagement photos on the grounds, and a statement from Kensington Palace described it as a ‘very special place’ for the couple.

Kensington palace said in a statement: ‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will move to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate early next year as they prepare for the arrival of their first child.

‘The couple have lived at Nottingham Cottage since their engagement last year. Windsor is a very special place for Their Royal Highnesses and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate.

‘The Duke and Duchess’s office will continue to be based at Kensington Palace.’

While they will only be a short drive from their London-based social circle, there will also be plenty of opportunity for Harry and Meghan to catch up with friends based in Berkshire.

Sir Elton, a close friend of Harry’s late mother, has owned a 37-acre estate in Old Windsor since 1975.

In the decades since he has made a number of upgrades to the property, including installing an indoor pool and a waterfall in the gardens.

The property, which is home to Elton’s husband David and their two sons in the UK, is also the location of The White Tie and Tiara Ball, an annual charitable ball held to raise money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Further down the Thames, near the village of Sonning, is the riverside home of George and Amal Clooney and their twins, Alexander and Ella.

The couple bought the Grade II listed property for a reported £10million in 2014, the year they were married, and spent their honeymoon there, living in unfurnished rooms.

It has since undergone extensive work to transform it into a home fit for Hollywood royalty.

Berkshire is also home to a number of high net-worth family with plenty of land and money to spend.

Among them is Swiss billionaire Urs Schwarzenbach, who has an impressive property portfolio, including a Scottish estate and a five-star hotel in Zurich. His British homes include 18th century Culham Court, a grade II-listed house near Henley-on-Thames.

His wife, Francesca Schwarzenbach-Mulhall, has royal connections and is the godmother of Prince Harry’s cousin Lady Louise Windor, daughter of Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex.

Also nearby are MP Richard Benyon and his well-connected wife, Zoe. Zoe is co-founder of luxury jewellery brand Robinson Pelham, which designed a pair of custom earrings worn by the Duchess of Cambridge on her wedding day in 2011.

When Kate’s younger sister Pippa tied the knot in May last year she also turned to the high-end jewellery brand, this time for her delicate bridal tiara.

Tour of Plankbridge Dorset Hutmakers’ Workshop 2012

Views:22915|Rating:4.57|View Time:13:29Minutes|Likes:96|Dislikes:9
A fascinating behind-the-scenes tour of the Plankbridge Dorset Hutmakers workshop with Plankbridge co-founder Richard Lee. Including: the shepherd’s hut hand-built by Richard for the Chelsea Flower Show 2012, several other shepherd’s huts of different sizes and colours, an island bothy, and a living van being restored for Dorset Wildlife Trust. The huts are all at different stages of construction, and the tour shows members of the different Plankbridge teams hard at work. Plankbridge shepherds’ hut making teams each consist of two people, and the teams are named after Dorset rivers: Frome, Piddle, Stour and Cerne.

Richard draws on years of knowledge and experience to vividly describe a range of subjects including cast iron wheels and chassis, corrugated iron (tin), lead flashing, lighting, home offices, Douglas Fir, single versus double glazing, painting, furniture and scenic artistry.

The aim of the tour is simply to show you what goes on in the UK’s top hutmakers’ workshop. If you’ve been thinking about visiting the workshop at Piddlehinton near Dorchester in Dorset but perhaps feel you live a bit far away, well, it’s hoped this video will give you a good sense of how Plankbridge shepherds’ huts are made.

Or it might inspire you to visit. In this video, obviously, Richard is talking to the camera and the camera can’t ask questions — but if you come on a tour of the workshop for yourself, you most definitely can.

But one big question can certainly be answered now: Do Plankbridge deliver huts to anywhere in the UK? YES — and even overseas. Recent destinations have included Ireland and the French Alps.

2018 Merz Crop Tour – Part #2 – Emergence Study – AGCO/Precision Planting

Views:4|Rating:0.00|View Time:11:27Minutes|Likes:0|Dislikes:0
In 2018 we put together the Merz Crop Tour! This was an agronomy study based off of the planter’s performance. How much does the down pressure really make? Does excessive down force cause yield loss? Is that because of the late emergence?

In this episode we walk through how we got the emergence information. We placed flags next to each plant as it emerged. The first flags were placed 12 hours after we first saw emergence. Every 12 hours after we placed a different color flag.

Red flags were place on May 8 at 5 p.m.
Orange flags were placed on May 9 at 6 a.m.
White flags show 36 hours and were placed May 9 at 5 p.m.
Blue flags represent 48 hours
Green flags marked plants that emerged 72 hours after the first plant in this field.

50 photos of my trip:

I wanted to travel, film and work with organic and urban farmers. So, I got a bike and some seeds. If I were going to be cycling through the major cities, I figured I may as well plant some shit.

Before I started my trip from the Netherlands, I had never cycled 25 miles or 40 kilometers in a day, let alone every day. Then, I ended up doing around 100 km of cycling a day and upwards of 250 km. I hardly prepared for the trip, leaving with 2 bags and no camping gear. The first few weeks were rough, I also lost my first close family member, I got the hang of it and the 3 months went by in a flash. Cycle touring is the BEST and most affordable way I have ever traveled, I can’t think of traveling any other way.

Many edibles were planted. Many seeds were spread. Many sustainable farming and food projects were filmed. Lots of project-specific videos coming soon.

Get a bike, get some seeds and let’s see that our soils are healthy for a long, long time.

Thanks for sharing and watching!
