Gardening for Non-Gardeners: 1 – The Tree Peony

Views:2719|Rating:5.00|View Time:9:23Minutes|Likes:14|Dislikes:0
Tree Peonies are not really trees. Perhaps better called “shrubby peonies”, they look exotic but are remarkably hardy and easy to grow. As a result, I strongly recommend them for the non-gardener who still wants to add a little beauty to their garden or patio.

Planting A Mango Tree In Arizona!

If anyone has any information on a Red Israeli Turpentine Mango please leave a comment below!

I have noticed in Arizona the biggest challenge for people is PH! What has been working for me has been very simple; gypsum and organic go hand in hand when dropping our ph!

The gypsum adds calcium to soil allowing organic matter to attach to the clay, as well as the sulfur that is added in the gypsum bags will also drop the ph.

If you would like to avoid ph issues you can foliar feed your plants using compost tea!

This page is to help encourage everyone to grow their own food, cook their own meals, and be their own doctors. This day and age too many human beings have taken the easy route. Relying on grocery stores, restaurants, and hospitals to take care of their problems; the majority of the population ends up with diseases from the food, then put on various medications from their doctor. Problem with this is nothing is getting fixed only prolonged.

Let’s be the change, grow what you eat, be your own doctor, and spread the wisdom!

Chelsea Flower Show 2010: Andy Sturgeon’s tree hunt in Italy

Views:1739|Rating:3.00|View Time:4:14Minutes|Likes:3|Dislikes:2
Andy Sturgeon searches for the perfect plants for the Telegraph garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2010.

Although the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2010 doesnt open until May, time is running short for designer Andy Sturgeon, whose has already scoured Sicily and Spain in his hunt for plants for the Telegraph garden.

Andys most recent trip is to Pistoia, in Tuscany, to find the perfect trees. But it proves harder than anticipated. Surrounded by several spectacular cork oaks, he remains undecided: should he go with two singles and one multi-stem tree, or plump for three singles? Or perhaps abandon the idea of cork oaks altogether?

His theme for the Telegraph garden is based on gravel planting. Andy aims to marry shrubs from dry areas including the Mediterranean and Californian chaparral with English garden plants, to give, as Andy says, an exotic atmosphere that feels like somewhere else, but nowhere in particular.

He has a string of four gold medals for his Chelsea Flower Show gardens, so Andy knows his stuff. And as one of the young turks of the garden design world, he is famous for his originality and sense of adventure.

With The Daily Telegraph garden, he is taking this several steps further, experimenting with plants that he has not used before.

Im out of my comfort zone here, he admits. Which is, we can’t help thinking, where he’s happiest.
